The Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) has conducted a workshop to finalize the drafting of the Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) 2020-2022, the regionโ€™s development road map, on November 7- 8, 2019 in Davao City.

Mohajirin Ali, BPDA acting executive director, said the BDP will “integrate the outputs and address the issues and concerns raised by participants during the provincial, city and CSOs (civil society organizations) consultations.”

He said the final copy of the development plan, the results matrices and the Bangsamoro Development Investment Program will be ready for presentation to the members of the cabinet before the end of the month.

“We hope the passage of the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC) will be fast tracked by the Parliament this November or December so we can present the 1st BDP to the BEDC and subsequently to the Parliament for approval,” Ali said.

The crafting of the 1st BDP is being directed by the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) through the RPDO. Planning officers and technical staff from the different ministries and offices of the region participated in this weekโ€™s finalization workshop.

Melanie Indar, RPDOโ€™s chief of Macroeconomic Planning Division, said the BDP is unique because it consolidates and harmonizes existing development plans for the region and takes into account the parliamentary form of government and the transition period.

Officials from the regionโ€™s development partners such as the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), European Union (EU), International Organization for Migration-Philippines (IOM-Philippines), Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Center for Humanitarian Dialogue (CHD) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) also attended the workshop.
