The Development Administration Sectoral Working Group (DASWG) of the Bangsamoro International Development Assistance Committee (BIDAC) chaired by BARMMโ€™s Interior and Local Government Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo and co-chaired by the European Union (EU) head of cooperation to the Philippines Christopher Wagner and Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, MNSA, simultaneously conducted the two-day planning workshop and 2nd DASWG meeting held on November 14-15, 2023 at Apo View Hotel in Davao City.

In cooperation with the European Union in the Philippines through the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA) Programme, the workshop and meeting convened government representatives and international development partners to discuss their strategic plan and share their experiences, best practices, and insights to aid in improving the regionโ€™s development administration capabilities.

BPDA Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, MNSA emphasized in his message the crucial role of international development partners in supporting the development administration sector of the BARMM through providing their technical expertise, aiding in institutional strengthening, and collaborating on policy development.

โ€œBy incorporating mechanisms for citizen involvement, feedback, and community participation, it strengthens the connection between the government and its constituents,โ€ the director general said.

Moreover, development administration is the backbone of governance, providing the essential link between policy intentions and tangible outcomes in the region. It is also the engine that drives the implementation of government policies and programs, transforming abstract objectives into concrete actions and enabling the efficient allocation and utilization of resources, including financial assets, human capital, and critical infrastructure.

The DASWG is composed of eight Bangsamoro ministries, offices, and agencies (BMOAs) and 15 international development partners, chaired by the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG) and co-chaired by the European Union of the Philippines.

In attendance during the meeting were government representatives from the Ministry of the Interior and Local Governmern (MILG), Bangsamoro Information Office (BIO), Bangsamoro Attorney Generalโ€™s Office (BAGO), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Ministry of Public Works (MPW), Ministry of Finance and Budget and Management (MFBM), and BTA-PCAD. Also present were BARMMโ€™s international development partners, including the European Union in the Philippines (EU), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), British Embassy, Relief International, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), The Asia Foundation (TAF), World Food Programme (WFP), United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), and the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA).

Meanwhile, the result of the two-day workshop will serve as a guiding roadmap for the joint endeavors of the Bangsamoro government and international development partners to propel progress in the development administration sector of the BARMM.
