COTABATO CITY — In line with the formulation of the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) 2023-2028, the Peace, Public Order, Safety and Security Committee (PPOSSCom) under the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC), has successfully conducted a three-day sectoral committee refinement workshop on July 17-20, 2022 in Davao City.

Said workshop was led by the committeeโ€™s technical secretariat, the Peace, Public Order, Safety and Security Division of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (PPOSSD-BPDA) headed by EnP Gil M. Cambronero, together with its development partners, the United Nations Development Fund and Australian Aid.

In this activity, PPOSSCom aims to review and refine the sectoral targets, strategies, and the overall development framework of the successor plan for the BARMM, and agree on the proposed macro-economic targets and possible sectoral contribution to its attainment.

To achieve the overall goal of the 2nd BPD 2023-2028, the member ministries, offices, and agencies (MOAs) under the PPOSSCom will identify their respective programs, projects, activities, and services to be included in their annual budget appropriations.

Accordingly, PPOSSCom has only three (3) sub-sectors in the 1st BDP 2020-2022 namely: Peace and Security, Public Order and Security, and Human Rights, while in the 2nd BDP 2023-2028, these 3 sub-sectors were expanded into five (5) sub-sectors, adding the Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA) and Peace Building.

Further, this workshop also provided an avenue for the committee members to agree on the peace, public order, safety and security, human rights, Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA) context, strategic goals, interventions, and outcome and output indicators to be reflected in the 2nd BDP 2023-2028.

Moreover, participants coming from PPOSSComโ€™s member ministries were able to refine the problem tree and objectives, sectoral goals, strategies, and identification of policy and legislative agenda.

Also in attendance was Melanie M. Indar, Director of BPDAโ€™s Planning and Policies Bureau.

Meanwhile, along with the other sectoral committees of the BEDC, PPOSSCom is continuously engaging with BARMMโ€™s development partners and MOAs to complete the formulation of the BDP 2023-2028. (BPDA-BARMM)
