COTABATO CITY — In line with Development Academy of the Philippinesโ€™ (DAP) Smarter Philippines through Data Analytics, Research and Development, Training and Adoption (SPARTA), the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the said office together with other two (2) institutional partners including DOST XII and Visayas State University, during a ceremonial signing held via Zoom teleconference on Friday, March 11, 2022.

BPDA Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali signed the MOU with DAP together with Engr. Kadil A. Sulaik, Jr., Director of BPDAโ€™s Research Development and Special Projects Bureau (RDSPB), who served as witness during the signing of the said document.

In his message, Director Sulaik underscored that the partnership between the BPDA and DAP could intensify the Bangsamoro governmentโ€™s efforts in advancing the regionโ€™s development.

โ€œThis partnership will benefit not only the BPDA and its employees, but also the line agencies, ministries, agencies, offices, local government units (LGUs), development partners, and other stakeholders it serves.  All the more so as the BARMM government intensifies its efforts to strengthen evidence-based policymaking and programming to advance the Bangsamoro region’s development,โ€ he said.

Furthermore, SPARTA is a project that aims to establish necessary online education, research and development mechanisms, and infrastructure to enable the industry of data science and analytics (DSA) and foster smart governance practices.  The said project is being supervised by the Department of Science and Technology โ€“ Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).

By 2022, SPARTA aims to reach 30,000 successfully trained and graduated learners and was able to foster a community of data science and analytics practitioners.  (BPDA-BARMM)
