COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has recorded a significant rise in its economic performance by 7.5% in 2021. This information was announced through Philippine Statistics Authority’s Press Release today, April 28 via Zoom video teleconference.
In his message, BPDA Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali underscored the significant decline in BARMM’s poverty incidence since 2018.
“Alhamdulillah! All of our efforts are beginning to bear fruit. It is remarkable to note that the BARMM has seen a significant decline in poverty incidence over the last three years, from 55.9 percent in 2018 to 39.4 percent in 2021. We experienced the steepest decrease in the entire country,” he stressed.
Ali also emphasized the huge increase in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate from -1.9 percent in 2020 to 7.5 percent in 2021, exceeding the 6.0-6.5 GRDP target growth rate in 2021 set in the 1st Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) 2020-2022.
Moreover, BARMM has emerged as the second fastest-growing economy among the regions in the Philippines. (BPDA-BARMM)
