COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has recorded a significant rise in its economic performance by 7.5% in 2021.ย  This information was announced through Philippine Statistics Authorityโ€™s Press Release today, April 28 via Zoom video teleconference.ย

In his message, BPDA Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali underscored the significant decline in BARMMโ€™s poverty incidence since 2018.

โ€œAlhamdulillah! All of our efforts are beginning to bear fruit. It is remarkable to note that the BARMM has seen a significant decline in poverty incidence over the last three years, from 55.9 percent in 2018 to 39.4 percent in 2021. We experienced the steepest decrease in the entire country,โ€ he stressed.

Ali also emphasized the huge increase in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate from -1.9 percent in 2020 to 7.5 percent in 2021, exceeding the 6.0-6.5 GRDP target growth rate in 2021 set in the 1st Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) 2020-2022.

Moreover, BARMM has emerged as the second fastest-growing economy among the regions in the Philippines.  (BPDA-BARMM)
