SDCom conducts meeting cum launching of National Children’s Month

COTABATO CITY — The Social Development Committee (SDCom) under the Bangsamoro Economic Development Council (BEDC) successfully conducted today, November 12, its second meeting cum launching of National Children’s Month held at BPDA Conference Hall, Bangsamoro Government Center, this city.

The meeting was simultaneously attended by representatives from ministries and offices who are members of the SDCom and non-government organizations which include United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Community and Family Services International (CFSI), and others.

In line with this year’s National Children’s Month celebration, several children and youth representatives were given an opportunity to take part in the said meeting to finally kick off their activity.

Mouin Acob started the program with an invocation and followed by the reading of the Children’s Declaration and “Sabayang Bigkas ng Panatang Makabata” by Jasmin Sangcala.

SDCom Chairperson, Minister of MSSD-BARMM, and Member of Parliament (MP) Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie together with SDCom Co-Chair, Head Secretariat, and Bangsamoro Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali signed the adoption of Resolution No. 2 or the Reactivation of Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) and Resolution No. 3, the Reactivation of the Expansion of Membership of the Regional Juvenile Justice Welfare Committee, both under SDCom.

Further, the BWC presented the resolution on the creation of a special committee under the BEDC, the Bangsamoro Gender and Development Committee.

Ministries and offices in attendance are Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE), Ministry of Human Settlement and Development (MHSD), Regional Darul Ifta (RDI), Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC), Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC), Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH), Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC), National Nutrition Council (NNC), Population Commission (PopCom), Bureau of Public Information (BPI), Philippine National Police (PNP), and National Anti-Poverty Commission – Children Basic Sector (NAPC-CBS). Meanwhile, the issues and agreements of today’s SDCom meeting will be raised at the second BEDC meeting. (Lovella Lao-Lastimosa, IKMD, BPDA-BARMM)
