COTABATO CITY — In cooperation with the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS-BARMM), the Peace, Public Order, Safety and Security Division (PPOSSD) of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) conducted Wednesday, June 30, this year’s third regular meeting of the Peace, Public Order, Safety and Security Committee (PPOSSCom), a committee under the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC), held at Bangsamoro Government Center and via Zoom video teleconference.
The meeting was presided by Committee Chair and MPOS Minister Hussein P. Muñoz together with BPDA Deputy Director General Engr. Amil Abubakar who represented Bangsamoro Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali. Both have expressed their gratitude to the members of the Committee for attending the third regular meeting despite of the challenges brought by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Furthermore, the meeting highlights the Committee’s approval for the three (3) additional members of the Committee. Palawan T. Mamaon, PPOSS Division Chief and head secretariat of the Committee, presented the proposed inclusion of the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples Affair (MIPA), Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC), and Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) as additional members of the Committee.
Atty. Marvin Mokamad of the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG) presented the updates on the support and assistance provided to law enforcement agencies by the Bangsamoro Government. Among the assistance given were 5 fire stations, 5 fire trucks which include 2 big trucks and 3 standard trucks, 4 police stations, 5 police cars, 5 municipal jails, and 6 RMMC/ RPOC operations. Moreover, Mokamad discussed the proposed additional support to law enforcement agencies operating in the BARMM and this will include 5 fire stations, 5 fire trucks, 5 police stations, 5 police cars, 3 PNP sea patrol, 3 city and 5 district jails, and 6 Regional Management Coordinating Committee (RMCC) and Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) operations.
Meanwhile, Jamal Ali of MPOS discussed the submission of accomplishment report. This resulted to the adoption by principle of resolution providing for the process of the submission of accomplishment reports of the Committee’s member ministries and offices as well as the conduct of a year-end program review and evaluation workshop.
Norcayla L. Mamalac, Development Management Officer II of BPDA’s PPOSSD, presented the rehabilitation and development framework for conflict-affected communities in Maguindanao and BRACED strategies including its support investment program.
Also present during the meeting were representatives from the Bangsamoro Darul Ifta’ (BDI) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). (BPDA-BARMM)
