COTABATO CITY โ As part of the process of formulating the Bangsamoro Rehabilitation and Recovery Plan (BRRP) 2023-2028 re: Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Paeng, the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), through the Peace, Public Order, Safety and Security Division (PPOSSD), conducted a two-day follow-through workshop held Tuesday until Wednesday, May 9-10, at the Conference Hall 2, BPDA Building, Bangsamoro Government Center, this city.
Said workshop aimed to enhance and fill in the gaps of the draft BRRP, and integrate the related programs, projects, and activities of various BARMM ministries, offices, and agencies (MOAs) to address the needs of Paeng-hit zones.
On October 29, 2022, the BARMM was placed under a state of calamity due to the onslaught of STS Paeng in 10 municipalities/areas of Maguindanao province, including Cotabato City.
Around 470,000 individuals were reported to have been displaced due to severe floodings and landslides, recorded 61 deaths, and incurred damages and losses amounting to P1.9 billion.
As an initial response, the autonomous regional government spent at least P835 million for the victims of STS Paeng.
EnP Gil M. Cambronero, chief of PPOSSD, facilitated this two-day workshop, with the provision of technical assistance from the World Bank headed by Margarita Songco, together with Paul Adolfo, Anna Dizon, and Hannah Wakay.
Among the participants were representatives of the BRRPโs technical working group (TWG), particularly from the Bangsamoro READi, Office of Civil Defense (OCD-BARMM), the ministries of Public Works (MPW), Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), Social Services and Development (MSSD), Finance and Budget and Management (MFBM), Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE), Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT), and Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR).
