COTABATO CITY – In support of the development of the Bangsamoro Knowledge Portal, the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) capacitated its knowledge managers during a four-day data processing workshop held at Villa Miranda Event Place in this city on July 3-6, 2023.

Said workshop aimed to capacitate the BPDA knowledge managers on analytical visualization of data through various tools and platforms needed in organizing data, information, and knowledge products related to the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) 2023-2028 and Bangsamoro Ecological Profiling (BEP). Also, this will ensure that all data reflected in the 2nd BDP and BEP are audited and inputted into the Bangsamoro Knowledge Portal.

The participants of this workshop are knowledge managers of the BEP for the sectors of institutional development, infrastructure, economic, social, peace, geophysical and environment, official development assistance, and monitoring and evaluation.

The BPDA’s Information and Knowledge Management Division (IKMD) designed the portal to organize data, information, and knowledge products that are accessible to the public.

In ensuring the accuracy of inputting the contents of the said portal, the BPDA has designed a series of lecture-workshops for knowledge managers to equip them with skills on tools for proper handling, preparation, cleaning, and processing of the BPDA’s gathered data, information, and knowledge products.

The data appreciation on the correlation of data between the dummy tables; answering analytical questions through summary tables, graphs, and charts; data visualization using pivot charts and Google My Maps; and creation of interactive maps using the sectoral data and Google My Maps were among the topics discussed during the lecture.

At the end of the workshop, the BPDA knowledge managers were able to outline analytical questions based on data correlations; create summary tables using pivot tables; create summary graphs and charts using pivot charts and other visualization tools; and present the final output of each sector that will be reflected in the said portal. Moreover, the Bangsamoro Knowledge Portal is set to launch before the end of 2023.  (𝑀𝑎𝑟𝑦 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑎 𝐿𝑎𝑜-𝐿𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑎, 𝐵𝑃𝐷𝐴-𝐵𝐴𝑅𝑀𝑀)
