COTABATO CITY โ In line with the observance of the National Volunteers Month, the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), in partnership with the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), conducted on Sunday, December 3, a forum on โVolunteerism in Islamic Perspectiveโ held at the BPDA Conference Hall 1, Bangsamoro Government Center, this city.
In his message, PNVSCA Executive Director Donald James D. Gawe underscored the PNVSCAโs role in promoting volunteerism throughout the country.
โThe mandate of PNVSCA is to promote volunteerism as a strategy for development,โ Exec. Dir. Gawe said.
Raymart Maruquez, Senior Volunteer Service Officer of PNVSCA, presented the Republic Act No. 9418, also known as โThe Volunteer Act of 2007,โ highlighting the policies, goals, and objectives of the said law.
As part of promoting volunteerism, the forum gathered volunteers, both individual and organization, aimed at understanding volunteerism in the context of Islam.
โVolunteerism in Islam is part of worship,โ Ustadz Fauzie A. Dagloc emphasized during his lecture on volunteerism in Islamic perspective.
Maribel F. Larracochea, Senior Volunteer Service Officer of PNVSCA, facilitated the open forum, providing the participating volunteers a platform to promote their advocacies, as well as share their volunteering initiatives and perspectives.
Meanwhile, Camelia N. De Vera-Dacanay, Chief of BPDAโs Macro-Economic Planning Division, expressed her gratitude to PNVSCA for their strong presence in the region in the promotion of volunteerism, and to the volunteers for their active participation during the forum.
In attendance were individual volunteers and volunteer organizations in the BARMM and representatives from the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC), the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM), and the Ministry of Finance and Budget and Management (MFBM).
