Assalamu Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu!!!

The Holy Month of Ramadhan is a period when all Muslims around the world strive to grow morally and spiritually to build stronger relationship with the Almighty Allah (SWT) through fasting, the fourth in the five pillars of Islam.

This season reminds us that this is not just about abstaining from consuming sumptuous foods and drinks during daytime, but also about becoming ‘Muttaqun’ (those who preserve themselves from all evils & do what Allah has ordained) as Allah promises the Muttaqun that they will be rewarded in the hereafter and shall have a fulfilling life in this world.

Despite the challenges we are facing, particularly in the midst of the pandemic, we must remain steadfast to withstand all those trials.  We should always be mindful with our words and actions to become a better Muslim – the one who exemplifies righteous deeds to others.

Thus, the essence of fasting is to abstain from everything that Almighty God forbids.  It is an excellent opportunity for improvement, not only for our own benefit, but also for the benefit of society and the nation as a whole.  And now that we are strengthening the Bangsamoro region through moral governance, it is expected that we will steer our region in the right direction.

During Ramadhan, we should all pray fervently for the BARMM.  We should all use this time to renew our commitment to assisting the Bangsamoro in overcoming its challenges.

With this, I sincerely hope that our sacrifices, good deeds, and learnings during this season will remain forever in our hearts.

May the Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to bring us good health, protect us from all sorts of calamities and disasters, and open the doors of happiness and prosperity for every Bangsamoro.

I wish you and your family a peaceful month-long observance of Ramadhan.
