The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) successfully holds its 1st Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC) Regular Meeting for CY 2020 today June 5, 2020, 2:00 PM at the Bajau Hall, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.
The BEDC serves as the planning, monitoring, and coordinating agency for all development plans, programs, and projects of the Bangsamoro Government, and is also tasked to evaluate and recommend short, medium, and long-term comprehensive development plans, programs, and projects for BARMM for approval by the Parliament. Hence, its convening is one great leap for the Bangsamoro region.
The said Council Meeting was scheduled in the first quarter of the CY 2020 but was postponed because of the pandemic we are facing. Despite the COVID-19, organization of the Council Meeting was made possible via online participation and physical presence of the members. Out of the twenty initial council members and/or representatives, eighteen are present who were very active in participation.
Also present are the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority, being the technical secretariat of the council who worked closely with the Office of the Chief Minister and the Office of the Executive Secretary.
