CLARK, PAMPANGA โ The Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) is grateful and honored for being recognized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Philippines as its โvaluable partner agencyโ in achieving universal access to sexual and reproductive health care and reducing maternal deaths.
A plaque of recognition for the BPDA was received by Khairon Sura, Planning Officer I of the BPDA representing Bangsamoro Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, MNSA, during the closing activity of the 8th Country Programme (2019-2023) hosted by UNFPA Philippines in Clark, Pampanga on Thursday, November 30.
The UNFPA Philippines Country Office is currently implementing the last year of its commitments under the 8th Country Programme (2019-2023) through the support of its strategic partners, implementing partners, and other stakeholders. As the year 2023 is nearing its end, the said agency is gearing up for the 9th Country Programme (2024-2028).
Considering the Philippinesโ unique social, economic, and geographic context, the continued support of strategic and implementing partners is vital in the process of laying the foundations for the 9th Country Programme, recognizing the significant role of its partner agencies, including the BPDA, in ending preventable maternal deaths, unmet need for family planning, gender-based violence and other harmful practices, and adolescent pregnancies across the humanitarian-development continuum.
The activity culminated thru a presentation of the UNFPA Strategic and Implementing Partnersโ results gained from the implementation of the 8th Country Programme (2019-2023); soliciting recommendations for the operationalization of the next programme; and recognizing the support and commitment of the strategic and implementing partners.
The convention of implementing and strategic partners is a platform offering an opportunity to validate plans for the next Country Programme, considering changing financing landscapes, communication, branding, and resource mobilization, especially for women, girls, and vulnerable populations.
Moreover, this endeavor serves as a celebration and acknowledgment for the dedication, commitment, and hard work of all stakeholders amidst the challenging context within the 8th Country Programme (2019-2023).
The BPDA as the socioeconomic development planning and policy coordinating authority of the Bangsamoro Government, ensures that policies particularly on gender-concerns, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and youth empowerment are part of the priorities in the Bangsamoro Development Policy Research Agenda (BDPRA), thereby ensuring the alignment and contribution of the 9th Country Programme (2024-2028) to the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan 2023-2028.
