PASIG CITY, Philippines โ The Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority, headed by Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, MNSA, conducted today, May 25, a benchmarking activity at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Central Office in Ortigas Center, this city.
Said delegation was warmly welcomed by NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, together with Undersecretary Carlos Abad Santos, and other key officials and employees.
โIt is important to have this continuous knowledge exchange. The development of Mindanao and BARMM is important to the development of the Philippines,โ Abad Santos said.
In response, DG Ali expressed his appreciation to NEDAโs continuous support to BPDA and the Bangsamoro government.
In partnership with the European Union through the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA), this benchmarking activity aimed to identify best practices that can be adopted and implemented to boost the performance of the BPDA being the planning arm of the Bangsamoro government and technical secretariat of the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC).
Accordingly, BPDA is NEDAโs counterpart in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
In his presentation, Danilo D. Barrameda, Director of Planning and Management Staff, discussed the mandates and functions of NEDA, NEDA Board, and its sectoral committees.
Ivee L. Cabading, Chief Economic Development Specialist of NEDAโs National Policy and Planning Staff, shared that one of the most important features of the planning process in the Philippines is that major decisions are made by inter-agency bodies. Consultative meetings with various stakeholders were also conducted to solicit inputs to draft and finalize the chapters of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028.
โPDP is the product of a systematic and highly consultative process coordinated by NEDA which oversaw the plan formulation and review process,โ Cabading stressed.
She also underscored that โLeave no one behindโ is the guiding principle of world leaders of 193 countries in solving the most pressing problems of today; the official motto set by the UN for the SDs every administrative term.
Other topics discussed were the overview of the public investment program and PIPOL, the monitoring and evaluation activities of NEDA, and updates on programs and projects under Official Development Assistance (ODA).
In an open forum, the delegation was able to ask questions pertaining to NEDAโs structure and operations, particularly in the process of implementing high impact programs and projects.
NEDA applauded BPDA for its successful formulation of the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) 2023-2028.
