QUEZON CITY, Philippines – As part of the benchmarking activity at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) visited here today, May 25, the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center, an attached agency under NEDA.
PPP Center Executive Director Ma. Cynthia C. Hernandez and other key officials welcomed the BPDAโs delegation led by BPDA Deputy Director General Amil J. Abubakar, together with Director Kadil A. Sulailk, Jr.
In her message, Dir. Hernandez said that they were elated in assisting the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), considering the unique context of the region.
Feroisa Francisca T. Concordia, Director IV for Capacity Building and Knowledge Management Service of the PPP Center, discussed the PPP program, concepts, legal framework, processes, and the PPP Centerโs role and assistance to implementing agencies, and building the foundation for successful PPP projects.
PPP is a contractual arrangement between the government and a private partner targeted toward financing, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining infrastructure facilities and services that are traditionally provided by the public sector.
Kristina Alodia Armengol, Project Monitoring Officer, presented the PPP Centerโs role in project implementation and the considerations in managing PPP projects.
Following the presentations, an open forum was also conducted to further enlighten the delegation on how the PPP works in the country, including its processes and determining ways to apply PPP in the BARMM.
For his part, Director Concordia said that the PP Center is willing to provide technical assistance to BARMM saying, โYou have a lot to offer in the Bangsamoro.โ
