COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council, through Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority as its technical secretariat, gathered various civil society organizations (CSOs), academes, and private or business sectors in the mainland cities and provinces of the BARMM, during a one-day consultation-workshop for the formulation of the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) 2023-2028 held at Grand Pagana Hall in Cotabato City today, Oct. 7, 2022.

In partnership with the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), this activity is part of the region-wide consultation aimed at soliciting inputs and recommendations from the abovementioned sectors in the cities of Cotabato and Marawi and the provinces of Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and Lanao del Sur.

BPDA Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali underscored that the 1st BDP is now on its final term, prompting the call to formulate a successor plan to sustain the gains and pursue the development thrusts, direction, priorities, and strategies outlined in the 1st BDP.

In line with the planโ€™s formulation process, he also said that the BPDA wants to ensure that the CSOs, academes, and private sectors will take part in this endeavor through providing relevant information that will be incorporated in the 2nd BDP.

โ€œWe want to make this plan inclusive.  So now, we are conducting consultations to collect data and information and solicit comments and suggestions from you,โ€ he said while presenting the salient features of the said plan.

DG Ali also added that consultations with various stakeholders will further โ€œstrengthen the foundation of this plan that is anchored to the enhanced 12-Point Priority Agenda of the Chief Minister.โ€

In his message, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim stressed on prioritizing the realization of the said agenda for the next three years.  He further urged the participants to cooperate and work closely with the BPDA along with the five sectoral committees of the BEDC.

Among the participating CSOs include Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society Inc. (CBCS), Mindanao Women Advocacy for Good Governance (MWAGG), Tabang Ako Siyap ko Bangsa Iranun saya ko Kalilintad ago Kapamagayon Inc. (TASBIKKA), Kabuntalan Land Owners and Development Association Inc., Muslim Youth Brotherhood (MYB), Family Action Towards Peace and Economics Inc., Family Community Development, Mangungaya Mindanao Inc., Bangsamoro Exit Overseas Workers Association (BEOWA OFW), The Moropreneur Inc. (TMI), Mindanao Peopleโ€™s Care Foundation Inc. (MPCFI), Maranao People Development Center Inc. (MARADECA), Mindanao Center for Local Governance Inc. (MCLG), Mindanao Organization for Social and Economic Progress Inc. (MOSEP), Muslim Youth Religious Organization, Inc. (MYROi), Bangsamoro Development Agency Inc. (BDA), SCCB Network, League of Bangsamoro Organizations Inc. (LBO), Kadtabanga Foundation for Peace and Development Advocates Inc., Moro Women Development and Cultural Center Inc. (MWDCC), Mindanao Peoples Caucus for Peace and Solidarity Inc. (MPCPS), and Tri-People Organization Against Disasters (TRIPOD) Foundation Inc.

Further, attendees from the sector of academe were Notre Dame University (NDU), Cotabato State University (CSU), and Upi Agricultural School (UAS).  The Bangsamoro Business Council (BBC) from the private sector and United Nations International Childrenโ€™s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) also took part during the consultation.

Moreover, this activity was facilitated by Maria Victoria Z. Maglana and Eric John Matela.  Maglana said that this activity is the third part of the region-wide consultation following the consultations with the local government units of Cotabato City and the provinces of Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte along with its constituent municipalities.  (Mary Lovella Lao-Lastimosa, BPDA-BARMM)
