COTABATO CITY — Around four (4) employees of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) successfully completed the โKnowledge Co-Creation Program (Young Leaders): Regional Revitalization in Disaster Prone Areaโ conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with Iwate Prefectural Youth Center last November 24, 2021 to February 24, 2022.
The employees who completed the said program include Mohammad Usop J. Sugadol from the Macro Economic and Planning Division (MEPD), Norhan Hadji-Abdullah from the Economic Intelligence Division (EID), Hannan Ibrahim from the Local Planning and Coordinating Division (LPCD), and Ayesha Aeda A. Masbud from the Peace, Public Order, Safety and Security Division (PPOSSDD). Sugadol, Abdullah, Ibrahim, and Masbud were part of the twelve (12) enrolled participants for Batch 2021.
During the training, the participants were divided into groups and tasked to present their action plans to JICA.
Masbud presented the first groupโs action plan entitled โDevelopment of a Reliable Communication System for Disaster Preparedness and Response in Dinagat Islands.โ Meanwhile, the second groupโs action plan entitled Education of Life: Integrating Disaster Risk Reduction Education into the BARMM Schools was presented by Ibrahim, while Sugadol and Hadji-Abdullah presented โReinforcing Disaster Planning and Education through Empowerment and Capacity Building of Bangsamoro Regional Planners and Disaster Managersโ for the third group.
Furthermore, the said groups received commendation from JICA for the successful presentation of their action plans.
Considering that the Philippines is prone to natural disasters, the said employees learnt about the importance of regional revitalization and disaster preparedness during the three-month training.
Moreover, the said program also opened the opportunity for the participants to gain relevant knowledge on disaster management and recovery in order to promote a sustainable and inclusive economic recovery and development. (BPDA-BARMM)
