COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) successfully joined today, December 15, 2020, a webinar facilitated by The Asia Foundation in collaboration with Data Ethics PH via zoom video teleconference.
Bearing the theme “Socioeconomic Status of BARMM”, the webinar is a part of the learning session to the program entitled as BARMM Virtual Data Challenge 2020, which centered around creating solutions to help the development of the region.
As a resource speaker, BPDA Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, presented the salient points of the 1st Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) 2020-2022.
“The overall goal of the plan is the upliftment of the lives of the Bangsamoro and establishment of the foundations of self-governance through moral governance,” Ali said.
Engr. Ali also emphasized that the plan is aligned with the 12-point priority agenda of the Bangsamoro Government by virtue of Memorandum Order No. 311 series of 2019.
The 1st BDP is also consistent with the national development direction as outlined in the Ambisyon Natin 2040, Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022, and 0-10 Socioeconomic Agenda of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Furthermore, the plan’s framework outlines the thrusts and priorities of the Bangsamoro Government covering the period 2020-2022 and how the region intends to contribute to the national long term vision of having a simple and comfortable life for all.
“The framework has eight (8) development goals identified as vital in the attainment of the overall goal,” Ali stressed.
Meanwhile, the webinar also served as a venue for dialogue on plans, policies, and the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the development of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. The said activity is free to all attendees and the audience from the universities in the BARMM, CSOs, data challenge enthusiasts, and development practitioners.
