MAKATI CITY โ€“ The Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), represented by Director Melanie M. Indar of the Planning and Policies Bureau (PPB), graced the 52nd General Assembly of the Association of Foundations (AF) on Friday, May 24, at SGV Hall, AIM Conference Center, this city.

Dir. Indar participated in the event as a resource person, discussing various development programs in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). During her talk, she provided the AF members with key information to help them align their programs with the BARMM government’s efforts to achieve an empowered, cohesive, and progressive Bangsamoro.

Other BARMM officials who served as resource persons included Social Services and Development Minister Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie, and Member of Parliament Rasol Mitmug, Jr.

Furthermore, the presentation and discussion focused on defining the current situation in BARMM, highlighting its challenges, significant achievements, and future aspirations. Dir. Indar also addressed various coordination mechanisms that enhance linkages among the regionโ€™s

stakeholders, contributing to the attainment of the overall goal.

Representatives from various civil society organizations (CSOs) and NGOs operating in the BARMM, such as Guiamel Alim of the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS), Noraida Chio of The Asia Foundation (TAF), Farida Mangcaan of the Community and Family Services International (CFSI), and Rhadzni Taalim of the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), also participated as resource persons, enlightening the audience on how to effectively collaborate with other development actors in the region.

Meanwhile, AF members raised and clarified pertinent issues regarding the support needed by BARMM from their sector, emphasizing the need for promoting votersโ€™ education ahead of the region’s inaugural Parliamentary Election slated in May 2023.

The AF, featuring the largest and most diverse network of NGOs in the Philippines, has 252 members, including 33 operating members, contributing to vital sectors like health, nutrition, education, and emergency response. The association further expressed its plan for expansion in BARMM.
