COTABATO CITY — Social Development Committee (SDCom), a sectoral committee under the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council, successfully held Thursday, Feb. 24, its first regular meeting for calendar year 2022 to discuss concerns and interventions of the social sector in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The meeting highlights the presentation of the workshop outputs of the SDComโs assessment of the 1st Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) 2020-2022 last January 25-27, 2022 in Davao City and the refined version of these outputs facilitated by the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) during the in-house assessment last Feb. 27-28 in Libungan, North Cotabato.
Paul Mamaon, Chief of BPDAโs Social Planning Division, presented the committeeโs outputs versus the refinement of the BPDA to solicit the comments of the committee members. The Bangsamoro Population and Development Office (BPDO), Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC), and Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE) gave their comments on the immediate outcomes, while the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH) suggested some inputs in the goals and key priority challenges and gaps.
Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie, Committtee Chairperson and Minister of the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), reiterated to all member ministries of the SDCom to comply in the submission of the annual accomplishment report duly signed by their minister or head of office and officially transmit it to the Social Planning Division (SPD) of the BPDA. SPD, as the technical secretariat of the said committee, is tasked to consolidate and validate the submitted accomplishment reports of the ministries, offices, and agencies in the social sector.
Jajurie also presented the SDCom Resolution No. 2 series of 2022, requesting for the creation of the Bangsamoro Sub-committee on Internal and International Migration and Development (BSCIIMD).
Furthermore, a resolution was also draft for the proposed creation of the Bangsamoro Committee on Disability Affairs (BCDA). The BCDA shall recommend policies to the BEDC, through the SDCom, to ensure proper management and development of policies, programs, and services for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the Bangsamoro region.
The committee members also proposed for the creation of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Regional Senior Citizen Committee (RSCC) in the BARMM, which are subject for discussion in the next committee meeting.
Meanwhile, also present during the meeting were representatives from Ministries of Health (MOH), Indigenous Peoplesโ Affair (MIPA), Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC), Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC), Bangsamoro Darul Iftaโ (BDI), and National Nutrition Council (NNC-BARMM).
