BPDA culminates Nutrition Month with a ‘Cook-off Challenge’

COTABATO CITY — In line with the culmination of the National Nutrition Month celebration, the Social Planning Division (SPD) of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) conducted on Friday, August 06 a ‘Cook-off Challenge’ held at the BPDA grounds.

Nadia Ranggal and Mary Lovella L. Lastimosa of the Information and Knowledge Management Division (IKMD) bested the other contenders with their winning recipe, ‘Ginataang Gulay with Dried Fish’ for the main dish and ‘Lettuce with Chicken Pops’ for the side dish.

“Masaya ako na sa pamamagitan ng patimpalak na ito ay naipakita ko ang aking talento at husay sa pagluluto, naihain at naipatikim ko sa mga hurado at kapwa kong empleyado dito sa BPDA ang ilan sa mga paborito kong lutuin at kainin,” Ranggal said.

“Higit na mahalaga ngayon ang paghahanda ng masusustansya at masasarap na pagkain para sa ating buong pamilya upang tayo ay makaiwas sa anumang uri sakit, lalung-lalo na ngayong may banta ng COVID-19,” Lastimosa added.

The result revealed a tie in the second place for the Macro-Economic Planning Division (MEPD) represented by Chief Camelia de-Vera Dacanay and Senior Economic Development Specialist Lilania Mantoyan and the Social Planning Division (SPD) represented by Planning Officer III Shariffa Ainie Abatayo and Saida N. Usman.  Winners for the third place were Engineer I Rakma Nor and Nor Ainie L. Abdulrahman from the Infrastructure Planning Division (IPD).

Engr. Amil J. Abubakar, Deputy Director General of the BPDA, congratulated all the winners and other contenders for their active participation in the competition.  Also, he was elated for the efforts of the SPD in working on this initiative.

“My appreciation to the head and staff of the Social Planning Division for initiating this fun cooking challenge thru gender and development,” Abubakar said.

Other participating divisions during Friday’s competition were the Research and Development Division (RDD), Monitoring and Evaluation Division (MED), Administrative Division, Finance Division, Economic Planning Division (EPD), Economic Intelligence Division (EID), Peace, Public Order, Safety and Security Division (PPOSSD), Official Development Assistance (ODA), Local Planning and Coordinating Division (LPCD), and the BPDA’s utility workers.

Engr. Mohammad Hadafie Abubakar, Chief of the Social Planning Division, urged his fellow employees to engage in the campaign against malnutrition in the Bangsamoro region.

“I encourage everyone to engage themselves and collaborate with various health advocates to raise awareness and fight the effects of the malnutrition in the BARMM, especially during this pandemic,” Abubakar stressed.

Meanwhile, the winners of the competition received a certificate of participation and gift certificates worth Php5,000.00, Php4,000.00, and Php3,000.00, respectively.  A consolation prize of Php1,000.00 were also given to other participating divisions.  (BPDA-BARMM)
