COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) currently takes part in the ongoing four-day Training of Trainers (TOT) for Community-Based Participatory Planning (CBPP) facilitated and funded by the World Food Programme (WFP) which started today, September 29 until October 2, 2020, held at the BPDA conference room.

BPDA Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali said the activity is being participated by select employees of BPDA and other participants from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) which covers the ‘first batch of trainees’.

“The training aims to learn how CBPP processes and integrates more inclusive methods into development planning with strong community participation, provide facilitators a better understanding of CBPP process using step-by-step tools in analyzing the socio-economic situation and discuss the formulation of community area development plan,” Ali said.

Mishael Argonza, WFP sub-office head for Cotabato City, conveyed his message to understand the importance of conducting this training.

“This training would address mismatch of intervention at the community level because this CBPP is a consultative and participatory approach that will help in the analysis of the landscape of barangay and problems of the community,” Argonza stressed.

Furthermore, Ali explained the need to formulate the CADP through CBPP as part of the convergence activities.

“As part of the convergence activities under the track 2 which is the institutionalization and sustainability is the integration of Convergence Area Development Plan or (CADP) to the Barangay Development Plan and Municipal Development Plan. This integration ensures that this convergence model area will be sustained and be a part of the regular program of our LGUs. With this, there is a need to formulate CADP through Community Based-Participatory Planning approach (CBPP),” Ali emphasized.

The ongoing activity is part of the convergence model of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) through the Integrated Bangsamoro Greening Program (IBGP) “Kayud ka Bangsamoro (KKB)”, the Basic Integration of Harmonized Intervention (BInHI) program of the MAFAR, and Disaster Risk Reduction – Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA) of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) with the assistance of BPDA as the secretariat and the WFP.
