COTABATO CITY โ On May 31, 2024, the Economic Development Committee, chaired by MAFAR Minister Mohammad S. Yacob and co-chaired by BPDA Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, MNSA, convened for its third regular meeting to address key issues and concerns impacting the economic development of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The meeting was presided over by MAFAR Director Ismael Guiamel, together with Rohanisah Rashid, BPDAโs Chief of Economic Planning Division.
The meeting highlighted the committeeโs review and adoption of the final draft of the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Planโs (BDP) Result Matrix and the draft Bangsamoro Development Report (BDR) 2023 of the Economic Sector. The committeeโs member ministries, offices, and agencies were reminded to submit their final vetting on the 2nd BDP Result Matrix and the BDR 2023 of the Economic Sector by the first week of June 2024.
Zarinah S. Aligsao, head of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) โ Cotabato Branch, provided updates on regional initiatives, including the PalengQR Ph, the adoption of digital payments for government transactions, financial literacy programs, and the Credit Surety Fund (CSF). She also elaborated on the Financial Consumer Protection Act, a legislative policy designed to safeguard the interests of consumers of financial products and services.
Meanwhile, Edward Donald F. Eloja, Chief of the Statistical Operation and Coordination Division of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA-BARMM), discussed the 2023 Economic Performance of BARMM. He also shared an overview of the Philippine Standard Industrial Classification Code, and updates on the Philippine Standard Geographical Code.
