COTABATO CITY — Officials and members of the Regional Statistics Committee (RSCom) of the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC) convened on Tuesday, Feb. 22, to report updates on the various agencyโs program during committeeโs first regular meeting for calendar year 2022 held at the Conference Room of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA BARMM) and via Zoom teleconference.
The meeting highlights the creation of the BARMM Ecological Profile (BEP) Technical Working Group (TWG) through a resolution.
Marifah M. Agar, Chief of Research and Development Division of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), presented the overview of the BEP to the committeeโs officials and members.
โThe BEP will provide a detailed description, facts, figures, and statistics about BARMMโs social, physical, cultural, and environmental circumstances. It will serve as an important information base for policy formulation, planning, and decision making,โ she stressed.
In his message, Engr. Kadil A. Sulaik, Jr., Director of Research Development and Special Projects Bureau (RDSPB) of the BPDA and the presiding chairperson who represented RSCom Chairperson Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, also underscored the importance of synergy among BARMM ministries, offices, and agencies in improving the collection of data in the region, especially in the formulation of the BEP and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP)/E data collection. He also congratulated the committee members for winning the 3rd Best RSC during the 6th RSC Summit last October 25, 2021.
Furthermore, Norhayyah Tula, Senior Statistical Specialist of PSA BARMM, reminded the RSCom members to consistently submit administrative data for 2021 GRDP/E. An update on the Community Based Monitoring System (CBMS) was also reported by BARMM Chief Statistical Specialist Mahmur Sarail. The committee members were also oriented on the source of fund for the establishment of Provincial and City Statistics Committees in the region, presented by PSA BARMM Statistical Specialist II Sittie Asmalia Cornell.
Abdulhamid Alawi, Jr, Chief of Policy Development of the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), discoursed the ongoing Housing, Land, and Property (HLP) Data Harmonization.
Meanwhile, Raymart V. Marquez, Senior Volunteer Service Officer of the Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), reported the conduct of information dissemination on the Volunteer Engagement in the Public Sector (VEPS) Portal and other statistical activities of their agency.
The committee members also identified some ministries, offices, and agencies as proposed additional members to the RSCom.
Also present were representatives from the Ministries of Health (MOH), Labor and Employment (MOLE), Transportation and Communication (MOTC), Interior and Local Government (MILG), Public Works (MPW), Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), Basic Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), Science and Technology (MOST), Trade, Investment and Tourism (MTIT), Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE), Interior and Local Government (MILG), Social Services and Development (MSSD), Bangsamoro Information Office (BIO), Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH), Technical Management Services-OCM (TMS-OCM), BARMM Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (BARMM-READi), Bangsamoro Treasury Office (BTO), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas โ Cotabato Branch (BSP), and Philippine Statistics Offices of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, and Basilan.
