DAVAO CITY โ Select employees from the Information and Knowledge Management Division (IKMD) and Research and Development Division (RDD) of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) successfully conducted Tuesday, February 14, a benchmarking on Knowledge Management System (KMS) at the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) office in this city.
Joey E. Recimilla, Director IV for Planning and Project Development Office (PPDO) of MinDA, welcomed the employees from BPDA spearheaded by Engr. Kadil A. Sulaik, Jr., Director I for Research Development and Special Projects Bureau (RDSPB), together with IKMD Chief Datuali U. Ibrahim.
โThe different staff involve in knowledge management will be sharing to you a lot of the things that they are doing in consideration also of your benchmarking activity this afternoon,โ Recimilla said.
Dir. Sulaik discussed the objective of the BPDA in conducting a benchmarking at the MinDA office, saying โActually, kaya kami nag-engage sa KM, gusto namin na maging centralize ang data ng BPDA and be available to stakeholders.โ
According to Ernie M. Tomas, Jr., Chief of Knowledge Management Division (KMD), MinDA defines KM as a systematic process of acquiring, synthesizing, creating, storing, retrieving, sharing, and use of data, information, insights, and experiences to achieve organizational goals.
โIf you have a system, dapat supportive sa development work,โ Tomas said while emphasizing that KM supports the knowledge worker with optimum combination of KM ingredients.
Tomas underscored that knowledge and information are keys to economic competitiveness and productivity and can help improve governance as these two are required and shared by stakeholders to communicate, collaborate and transact, and make informed decisions and policies, saying โDecision making is aided by evidence, information.โ
MinDAโs KM as an organic system is composed of various elements such as people and culture, process, and technology operating based on a strategy and guided through effective leadership and management.
Mindanao, being part of the Brunei Darussalam Indonesia Malaysia Philippines East Asian Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), Tomas shared that Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) can join its information and communications technology (ICT) cluster.
โWe will be involved both in ICT cluster and statistics,โ Dir. Sulaik stressed as he confirmed the interest of the BPDA to be a part of the said cluster. He further suggested that the Bangsamoro Information and Communications Technology Office (BICTO) should also join the ICT cluster.
Raymond Tejano, Information Technology Officer II, shared the following KM information systems and tools utilized by MinDA: Google Workspace which is free for government institutions; Workplace by Facebook, a free social media working account; Library Management Center, a free facility for library services; Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS); MinDA website; Kobo Tool Box and Tableau; accounting and financial systems; integrated budget and financial systems; physical performance monitoring system; Human Resource Integrated System (HRIS); document tracking system; and R Programming and R Studio.
Meanwhile, other employees involved during the said activity were Abdulrahim Mama, Roqaidah Ladiasan, Mary Lovella Lao-Lastimosa, Datu Jahramin Sinsuat, Salma Ali, and Norodin Intia. (Mary Lovella Lao-Lastimosa, BPDA-BARMM)
