COTABATO CITY — As part of BARMM’s commitment to data transparency and good governance, select technical staff of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) underwent a two-day virtual training on June 16-17 to launch the Bangsamoro Development Tracker to the public.

Bangsamoro Development Tracker is an interactive dashboard that will present the data for the 1st Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) in a virtual and engaging manner. This dashboard is developed through the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with Thinking Machines Data Science.

In his message, BPDA Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali emphasized that this training aims to assist BPDA in the data collection from different ministries, offices, and agencies.

“The dashboard is technically developed with set of tools to make the data submission easier for agencies and in order to make use of it to the fullest and integrate it as part of our strategic operation,” Ali said.

Being the technical arm of the Bangsamoro government, Ali reminded his staff of the importance of mastering the dashboard operation before it shall be officially launched to the partner agencies and to the public.

“You are here today to learn its essence, how to operate it and use it in the processing of data submitted by agencies. You shall be the frontrunners of this dashboard which will be visible in the public eye,” he added.

During the virtual training, Thinking Machines introduced Bangsamoro E-mail Automation (BEA) which is a data collection tool that will handle the flow of data from agency submission to BPDA validations. It will further help in managing the workflow of handling many submission files from the agencies, validate their submissions, and issue certifications.

Thinking Machines also presented the “Tableau” application, a data visualization software that is used for data science and business intelligence. It comes with tools that allow to drill down data and see the impact in a visual format that can be easily understood by any individual.

Meanwhile, the participants underwent a hands-on workshop by navigating the Tableau interface to set up and share reports, connecting Tableau to different data sets and sources, creating different types of charts and graphs to visualize data, and organizing different elements into a dashboard.
