COTABATO CITY — Following the recently concluded Bangsamoro Peace and Security Summit for Sustainable Local Development last May 24, the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) held Thursday, June 10, a post-summit activity to enhance the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) Framework for Maguindanao’s conflicted-affected areas, conducted via zoom video teleconference at BPDA Meeting Room 2, Bangsamoro Government Center, this city.

BPDA Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali underscored that the summit was the response of the Bangsamoro government to put an end to the recurrent armed-conflict in the province of Maguindanao, particularly the municipalities inside the SPMS-box plus the municipalities of Upi, South Upi, and Datu Paglas.

“This activity was conducted to further enhance the framework particularly the investment component as some major ministries such as MSSD, MOH, and others were not invited during the first workshop,” Ali said in his message.

The SPMS-box is a military term referring to the contiguous towns of Shariff Aguak, Pagatin (Datu Saudi Ampatuan town), Mamasapano, and Shariff Saydona where the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) operates.

Engr. Ali also presented the “BRACED” framework and its investment. BRACED stands for Belief and spiritual awareness, Resilient community, Access to quality services, Concrete conflict resolution, Effective and efficient governance, and Development in a holistic approach.

Meanwhile, the clustered BARMM offices decided to conduct follow-up meetings to every component of the BRACED framework. This includes the BPDA and Ministry of Public Works (MPW) as the lead agencies and the Ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT), Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), Science and Technology (MOST), Labor and Employment (MOLE), and Interior and Local Government (MILG) as member ministries.

In attendance were representatives from MOLE, MTIT, and Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC). MPW, MBHTE, MOST, MPOS, MILG, and Bangsamoro Darul Ifta were also present via zoom.

This activity was facilitated by BPDA’s Peace, Public Order, Safety and Security Division (PPOSSD) spearheaded by Chief Palawan Mamaon. (BPDA-BARMM)
