BPDA conducts orientation on Safe Spaces Act of 2018 and Disaster Risk Reduction

As part of the 2021 Gender and Development Program of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), the Social Planning Division (SPD) has successfully conducted an orientation to select BPDA personnel on Republic Act 11313, also known as Safe Spaces Act of 2018 and Disaster Risk Reduction, held today, December 10 at Cren Cuisine, Gov. Gutierrez Avenue, Cotabato City.

Helen Rojas, Chief of Staff of the Member of Parliament (MP) Bainon G. Karon who is the Chairperson of the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC-BARMM), discussed the Safe Spaces Act of 2018.  Moreover, the Disaster Risk Reduction was discussed by Paul Mamaon, Chief of BPDA’s SPD.

Meanwhile, this activity aims to promote awareness on various forms of violence against women and girls; provide information on laws protecting women and girls; capacitate BPDA personnel for future technical assistance to local government units and civil society organizations as key partners in disaster risk reduction; and discuss the important provisions on the declaration of a state of calamity, remedial measures, prohibited acts, and penalties.
