First Technical Working Group (TWG) Meeting on the formulation of the Bangsamoro Recovery Plan (BRP) 2020-2022 for COVID-19 Pandemic

The 1st Technical Working Group (TWG) Meeting on the formulation of the Bangsamoro Recovery Plan (BRP) 2020-2022 for COVID-19 Pandemic was conducted today, July 20, 2020 at the BPDA Conference Hall, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.

Ten out of the eleven ministries composing the TWG were present during the meeting which started at 2:00 oโ€™clock in the afternoon.

In his opening statement, Bangsamoro Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), emphasized on specific functions of the TWG as specified in the Administrative Order 004. He also stressed that the final Bangsamoro Recovery Plan (BRP) 2020-2022 will be presented to the cabinet for approval.

During the meeting, Administrative Order No. 004 โ€œConstituting the TWG on the Formulation of the Bangsamoro Recovery Plan (BRP) 20220-2022 for COVID-19 Pandemicโ€ was presented by Mr. Palawan Mamaon, where he gave a brief background of the COVID-19. He recalled the rapid increase in the COVID-19 cases, other taken measures such as mass testing, travel/ boarder restrictions and the declaration of the state of calamity through Proclamation No. 922 and 929. It was followed by the presentation of the Draft Bangsamoro Recovery Plan (BRP) 2020-2022 on COVID-19 Pandemic by Ms. Rohanisah Rashid with assessment on political, social, and economic impact. Based on the highlights only 1 hospital is level II (which can accommodate positive cases).

An open forum and discussion of the ways forward immediately follows in which succeeding activities will be expected to follow in the comings weeks.The TWG is chaired by the BPDA, with Ministry of Health (MOH) as the vice-chair. Members are the BTA-Parliament Representative, Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG), Ministry of Finance, Budget, and Management (MFBM), Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE), Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism (MTIT), Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), and Ministry of Public Works (MPW).
