Assalamu Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhuโฆ
This year marks the 3rd anniversary of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) since its historic foundation on January 21, 2019.
Bearing the theme โChanging peopleโs lives, transforming the Bangsamoro: Celebrating and sustaining the gains of peace and Moral Governance,โ our regionโs week-long celebration would definitely allow us to celebrate the regional governmentโs success in laying the groundwork for moral governance over the past three years and its remarkable efforts in mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic amidst BARMMโs delicate transition period.
However, as we enjoy the gains of peace and moral governance, let us not forget the devotion and sacrifices of the Bangsamoro who dedicated their lives and fought for self-determination which led to the creation of the BARMM. This triumph has utmost significance for every Bangsamoro as this is the result of the decades of struggles and series of peace talks with the Philippine Government.
Undoubtedly, what we have today is largely due to the devotion and sacrifices made by those on the frontlines of the Bangsamoro struggle for our beloved homeland and its people. With the extension of BARMMโs transition period, we must prepare ourselves for a larger struggle–a major jihad–as we continue our work to uphold moral governance fully and bring the vision for BARMM to fruition.
As we look forward to more meaningful years of celebration, I urge everyone to remain united and work collaboratively to maintain peace and uplift the lives of the Bangsamoro, and to step up our efforts to create a positive impact on the lives of people not only within the BARMM but also beyond its borders.
On behalf of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority, I wish everyone a peaceful and joyous celebration of the 3rd Bangsamoro Foundation Day!
