COTABATO CITY — As the technical secretariat of the Infrastructure Development Committee (IDCom), the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) led the formulation of the Bangsamoro Development Investment Program (BDIP) and Result Matrices (RMs) during a two-day workshop on Sept. 27-28 with the officials and representatives of the said committeeโ€™s member ministries and its sub-sectors on transport, water resources, energy, socio-economic, and Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

The two-day workshop aimed to formulate an investment program and result matrices for various infrastructure projects to be implemented in the BARMM in the next six years.  These two, BDIP and RMs, are documents associated with the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan for 2023-2028.

Melanie M. Indar, Director for Planning and Policies Bureau of the BPDA, facilitated the said workshop along with Engr. Danilo Ong, Director General of the Ministry of Public Works.

In his message, DG Ong reiterated the message of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim underscoring that everyone should be united towards the regionโ€™s development to make sure that the plans for the future are completely expressed.

โ€œYou are all planners. Planners towards the future of the Bangsamoro with good work side,โ€ he stressed.

Engr. Tarhata P. Kalim, Chief of MPWโ€™s Planning and Programming Division, presented the BARMM infrastructure requirements for 2023-2028.  In her message, she shared the results of the Infrastructure Convergence Committee (ICC) meeting held in November 2019.  Through this ICC, the ministry came up with a five-year investment programming for 2021-2025 with a total budget requirement of Php176 billion. She also added that the next ICC meeting will be conducted on November 2022 to be attended by the local chief executives in the BARMM.

Meanwhile, other member ministries and offices who took part in formulating the committeeโ€™s BDIP and RMs were the Ministries of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE), Transportation and Communications (MOTC), Health (MOH), Indigenous Peoplesโ€™ Affairs (MIPA), Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), Social Services and Development (MSSD), Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Science and Technology (MOST), Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), Bangsamoro Information and Communications Technology Office (BICTO), and Office of the Senior Minister.  (Mary Lovella Lao-Lastimosa with reports from Rakma Nor, BPDA-BARMM)
