COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) conducted today, May 12, the preliminary meeting of the inter-agency technical working group that will lead the formulation of the first Bangsamoro Ecological Profile (BEP) held at Alnor Convention Center, this city.

The meeting highlights the sectoral updates on the formulation of the BEP and the identification of ways forward to kickstart the formulation process of the BEP.

Accordingly, the BEP has six (6) sectors which include Population and Social Services, Local Economy, Infrastructure and Physical Base, Environmental and Natural Resources, Institutional Development, and Peace, Public Order, Safety, and Security.

In his message, Kadil ‘Jojo’ Sulaik, Director of BPDA’s Research and Development and Special Projects Bureau (RDSPB), said that the BEP will be a merger of the socioeconomic and biophysical profiles of the region that will provide a comprehensive scoping of the physical, biological, socioeconomic, cultural, political, and built environments of the BARMM.

“It will serve as the primary reference for BARMM’s future planning particularly on target setting, strategy formulation, investment programming, and monitoring and evaluation,” he stressed.

Moreover, the BPDA is the lead agency in coordinating the formulation of the Bangsamoro Government’s development policies and plans, playing a vital role in providing reliable regional data on the existing services of the BARMM to its constituents, socioeconomic factors that affect BARMM policies and programs, current context and situations on the ground that affect specific segments of the population, challenges and gaps in service provision, and resources available including biophysical assets of BARMM, among others.  (BPDA-BARMM)
