COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), through the Local Planning and Coordinating Division (LPCD) led by Engr. Al Kashmir Y. Ko, conducted a coordination meeting today, Oct. 4, 2022 with the officials of the Office for Other Bangsamoro Communities (OOBC) held at the Bangsamoro Government Center in this city.

OOBC Executive Director Noron S. Andan expressed his gratitude to BPDA for this initiative to conduct a meeting that will help them in becoming more familiar with the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC) and the Enhanced 12-Point Priority Agenda of the Bangsamoro government.

According to Section 6 of the Bangsamoro Administrative Code, OOBC is the primary unit in the Office of the Chief Minister that recommends policies and systematic programs for promoting the welfare of Bangsamoro communities outside the region. It also assesses the economic, social, and cultural needs of the Bangsamoro communities outside BARMM.  OOBC shall work in partnership with other BARMM ministries, offices, and agencies to carry out initiatives that will address the needs of the said communities.

BPDA, as the technical secretariat of the BEDC, shared a brief presentation to introduce the sectoral committees of the Council including its roles and functions in developing the BARMM.

Meanwhile, the said meeting marks the beginning of a collaboration between the two BARMM offices to address issues and concerns of the Bangsamoro communities outside the region towards ensuring inclusive development and progress for all Bangsamoro.  (Mary Lovella Lao-Lastimosa with reports from Hannan Ibrahim, BPDA-BARMM)
